The End of the Summer
25 Aug 2003 1:59 AM
It's hard to believe that summer is already drawing to a close. Some of you may already be back at school or work.
Speaking of work, we're progressing nicely towards our BIG ANNOUNCEMENT on 15 September 2003. Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, check out
JaredCarter.com, the home page of Jared Carter, who has been featured right here on Plagiarist.com. Included are ten poems, a very good biography, many photos, and other articles and writing of interest to poetry lovers and scholars everywhere.
In keeping with the full-disclosure nature of these updates, we should note that
Plagiarist Design, our sister company, was responsible for building the site.
While Plagiarist.com development slowed during the summer, once we get this grand new project off the ground we will be returning to shake things up here.
Thanks to everyone for their support in the past few months. It was rocky for a while but we're getting back on track.
Try to keep cool.

The Open Poetry Project is Now Online
20 Jul 2003 5:26 PM
Plagiarist.com is proud to announce the spinoff of our first sister site,
www.OpenPoetry.com.
The Open Poetry Project is an open, editable database of information about poetry.
The Open Poetry Project uses wiki software which means that every page is editable by anyone at any time. If you have knowledge about a particular poet, poem, style or genre, feel free to add to the OPP and help to make the first community knowledge base on the Internet devoted entirely to poetry.
More new content and sites are coming soon as Plagiarist.com spins off its various site sections into full-fledged web sites on their own. Next to spin off are our
Poetry Discussion Forums. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
I hope everyone is having a great summer!
Cheers,

New work by Jared Carter, and new Book Review
21 May 2003 1:54 PM
Updates this week include new poems, a slightly re-designed site header (which is still in progress) and new poems. You can see the list of newly added poems
here.
We've also posted a
new book review of Jared Carter's Les Barricades Mystérieuses. Check it out.
You can also
read some selections of Jared Carter's poetry in the poetry archive. They're well worth your time.
Updates have been a bit slow lately, as we've been working on some exciting new changes and additions that we hope will be well worth the wait.
We're still accepting submissions for the premier issue of
our new magazine, The Plagiarist, until June 30th. Be sure to read the submission guidelines before submitting.
That's it for this week.
Congratulations to recent graduates, and thank you to everyone who wrote in to let us know how the site's been helpful in your studies. Your kind words are appreciated.
Cheers,

Reelin' in the years...
26 Apr 2003 12:11 PM
It's my 27th birthday today. Updates this week include many corrections, added submissions, and a new temporary forum to support our upcoming eBook of
100 Essential Poems. We'd like to ask your opinions about the top poems that you think every lover of poetry
should read.
So
check out the new forum and list your Top 10 choices. Fabulous prizes abound!
I'm debating on whether to include more commentary in these news updates. Usually they're fairly dry and simply cover what's been updated on the site. Let me know via our contact form if you'd prefer I stick to the facts or would rather read an edititorial essay in this space.
Thank you again for your donations. The visitors of this site kept the site up and running continuously (server errors aside) throughout April. However, I'm looking at being faced with the same financial problems in May again. I'm considering a Premium Membership option that would offer more features, more in-depth content, and other special stuff. Everything that's currently free will always be, and of course I'm going to continue to add new poems and articles, but if I can't figure out a way for the site to sustain itself, I won't be able to keep the resource-intensive Poetry Archives and Forums online.
Okay, that's it for this week. Look for new book reviews and more canonical essays added throughout the week.
Cheers,

Support Plagiarist.com, Receive Fabulous Prizes!
14 Apr 2003 2:59 AM
I would like to thank everyone who contributed donations to the site this week. We are in dire need of support, and some of our visitors have already come through to help us in keeping the site up and running.
As the site grows more popular it costs more and more money to keep our large archives online. If you use the site regularly we hope you can find it in your heart to
donate even a small amount. In exchange, we'll send you a gift in thanks. It's like a pledge break, except instead of tote bags we send out eBooks of poetry and commentary.
We've added more poems this week, and will be replying to the remainder of our magazine submissions throughout the upcoming week as well.
Thank you again to those who help keep the site alive, either through donations, submissions, comments, forum posts, corrections, or just friendly e-mail. We love to hear from our visitors, and hope that you'll continue to write.
Have a lovely week,
-- Jough Dempsey, Ed.
