Troths

Carl Sandburg

Yellow dust on a bumble
     bee's wing,
Grey lights in a woman's
     asking eyes,
Red ruins in the changing
     sunset embers:
I take you and pile high
     the memories.
Death will break her claws
     on some I keep.
