Though I'm only 22 years old, I've felt that I've significantly improved with age. I think that Jeffers is arguing against the nostaligic youth fetishism that haunts the lives of most people past the age of thirty. He is compelling us to look at the improvements of age and to acknowledge that the peaks we reach in our later age are higher and more promising. A beautiful poem from an amazing poet.
