what is interesting is that Duffy has written this peom so truthfully about love, and you would think that she would stick to it. However one of her other poems 'Words, wide night' shows that she is just as much a fan of the 'slushy stuff' as she is the harsh reality.

I found that the poem conveys relationships rather well in a sense that love will blind your eyes just like the onion compared in the poem.
