since when is this poem not written in straigt lines? i have it but wanted to print it out a feature i like about this site and love being able to email to people but this poem has never had this form when i've read it and it's been around a long time.

this poem is perhaps my favorite of all time. I always include it in my college classes as it shows students how extended metaphor works. Beyohnd that, it demonstrates image in a powerful and clear way, beyond any other example I have discovered either as a reader or as a practicing poet.
