this poem was not written by Robert Burns, It has long been unidentified in Scotland and the author is unknown. I have poetry books published in the early 19th century which shows this poem as author unknown.. It is totally unlike any poem that Robert Burns wrote. It is one of my favourite poems and I read it at my fathers funeral.
