this poem got me into poetry. Jeffers' taste in words and phrasing effectively evoke the awe that his poem describes. Just the first line, "The continent's a tamed ox" is an imagery-rich analogy, as the ox is a workhorse but also an extremely powerful creature. Beautiful poem.
