I was only a child when this war happened and much older when I learned what had happened and how many had died. When I read Ginsbergs poem today it brought home to me everything that I had heard from my parents and relatives - his words are so damned strong, they go for the jugular - this poem is so close to the bone, it transports me right to that refugee camp. It leaves me emotional and ridden in middle-class guilt.
