the simplicity of this poem by Keats allows us to see how time keeps on moving regardless of our presence

I think the intention was to convey a sense of the never ending cycles of ordinary life as compared with the (thankfully) transitory nature of war. Incidentally her 'wight' is her man therefore love transends hate. The poem is itself quite beautiful and timeless thus proving the point by its mere existence.
