The conclusion of this poem surprised me, and struck me as incredibly cruel. I've heard other people say that not knowing if a loved one is dead or alive is worse than learning of their death. In other situations, I've heard the reverse. Do you think the speaker is sincere in what they say, or is just being lazy and taking the easy way out?

I think this poem was very bad. no affence to the writer, but not knowing that a love one is dead and praying that he's alive I think it just too sad.
