This is one of my favorite poems by Merwin. It has that strong, eerie (but somehow comforting) sense of isolation and disembodiment that makes his poems his own. He is an amazing poet and human.

Interesting; in this particular poem Merwin's voice reminds me of many Spanish language authors, such as Jaime Sabines or Pablo Neruda, Jorge Guillen, even Antonio Machado.
