Metaphorical Meaning
2004-02-21
Added by: Rami Arbid
Many of you obviously see that this poem is talking about a horse and all it can do. However, the metaphorical meaning of this pome related directly to Dickinson's times, as she is describing a train. It is able to go around mountains, up valleys, etc. Also, it finally stops at its stable door, which is where the depot where a train would stop. The words used to describe the horse, also describe a train, such as prodigious (big/amazing).
