This is basically a poem to the women Poe has lost in his lifetime, Lenore is basically a representation of these women. The poem shows his grief throughout the poem as he asks God why he could take someone so beautiful. He decides not to lament over her death at the end, but to wish her well and to urge the angel on with a song (paean). However I don't have any idea what peccavimus means.
