"Survivor" is representative of the poems Rozewicz wrote after WWII. The destruction of Poland demanded a poetry stripped of almost all the elements of versification. Defeat at the hands of the Germans ushered in a bare-bones poetry of unflinching honesty while, in America, victory found its 'expression' in the riddling ironies of the New Criticism.

OK this poem is good but if only you could read some war prose this is really good n drastic. I don't know which books has been translated into english but maybe it is the most important reason why one should learn Polish? :)
